One-Click Tax Refund Service on Hometax |
Starting April 2025, Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS) has launched a new digital service on Hometax and Sontax called “One-Click Tax Refund Filing (원클릭 환급신고)” for those filing comprehensive income tax (종합소득세).
This streamlined tool is designed to make tax refund applications faster and easier, especially for freelancers and part-time workers in Korea.
🧾 1. Who Can Use the One-Click Tax Refund Service?
This service is available for the following groups:
- Freelancers and independent service providers (인적용역), including those without fixed monthly salaries.
- Salaried workers, retirees, and individuals with other forms of income who have not filed taxes or may be eligible for a refund.
- International students working part-time can also use this tool to check if income has been reported under their name.
⚙️ 2. Key Features and Benefits
- Online tax filing and refund application available through Hometax or Sontax starting March 31, 2025.
- Monthly income tracking: Users can check income details reported for March during April.
- Income denial option: If incorrect income is reported, users can reject or dispute it directly.
- Retroactive refund claims available up to 5 years, depending on your income type:
- Freelancers: 2019–2023
- Salaried/retirement/other income earners: 2020–2023

- Go to the official Hometax website or use the Sontax mobile app.
- Select the service menu: "종합소득세 원클릭 환급신고".
- Verify your bank account and contact info.
- Check your income records and estimated refund.
- Agree to share your data with your local government (WeTax).
- Click “이대로 신고하기 (Submit as is)” to finalize your filing.
- Don’t have a bank account? You can choose to receive your refund in cash at the post office.
💸 4. Refund Processing Timeline
- If there are no errors and the application is completed by the end of April, the refund will be issued by mid-May.

- This service has no deadline – it can be used any time.
- Self-filing is required to receive a refund under Korean tax law.
- Even if you don’t receive a notification, you can still log in and check your eligibility on Hometax or Sontax.
- Be cautious of phishing scams. Never share your passwords, bank account details, or other sensitive information through unknown sources.
