Grammar Notes:

1. -/어요 grammar:

This is a polite sentence ending used for the present tense. It is attached to the verb stem. For example:

  • 공부하다 (to study) becomes 공부해요 (I am studying).
  • 먹다 (to eat) becomes 먹어요 (I am eating).

2. / grammar:

These are object markers. is used after a consonant, and is used after a vowel to indicate the object of the sentence. For example:

  • 책을 읽다 means "to read a book."
  • 커피를 마시다 means "to drink coffee."
