1. N-(으)로grammar = ‘to a place’ in English
- It is used to indicate the destination or direction of
movement. (이동의 목적지나 방향을 나타날 때 사용해요.)
주차장이 어디에 있어요? – 건물 뒤에 있어요.
오른쪽으로 가세요.
Where is the parking lot? -
It's behind the building. Go to the right.
수영반 등록은 어디에서 해요? – 저기 사무실에서 해요. 왼쪽으로 가세요.
Where do I sign up for
swimming? - It's in the office over there. Go to the left.
식당은 7층에 있어요.
위로 올라가세요.
The restaurant is on the
7th floor. Please go up.
센터 사무실은
1층에 있어요. 아래층으로 가세요.
The center office is on the
first floor. Please go downstairs.
Tense
Noun ending
in vowel + 로
아래 -> 아래로 (to behind)
학교 -> 학교로 (to school)
*교실 -> 교실로 (to class)
Noun ending
in consonant + 으로
공원 -> 공원으로 (to park)
3층
-> 3층으로 (to 3rd
floor)
왼쪽 -> 왼쪽이로 (to the left)
Examples
1. 어디에서 운전 면허증을 받아요? – 저기 오른쪽으로 가세요.
Where do I get my driver's license? - Go
over there to the right.
2. 어디에서 과일을 사요? – 지하 1층으로 가세요.
Where do I buy fruit? - Go to the
basement level.
3. 어디에서 환전을 해요? – 위층으로 가세요.
Where do I exchange money? - Go upstairs.
4. 어디에서 소포를 보내요? – 옆으로 가세요.
Where do I send a parcel? - Go to the
side.
2. V-지 마세요 grammar = ‘don’t do’ in English
- It is used to prohibit the listener from doing something.
(듣는 사람에게 어떤 행동을 금지시킬 때 사용해요.)
= “don’t do” in English
버스 정류장에서 담배를 피우지 마세요.
– 아,
죄송합니다.
Don't smoke at the bus
stop. - Oh, sorry.
공연장 안에서 사진을 찍지 마세요.
Don't take pictures inside
the concert hall.
수업에 늦지 마세요.
Don't be late for class.
시험 시간에 말하지 마세요.
Don't talk during exams.
Tense
Verb + 지 마세요 = don’t do
먹다 -> 먹지 마세요.
(don’t eat)
듣다 -> 듣지 마세요.
(don’t listen)
쓰다 -> 쓰지 마세요.
(don’t write)
타다 -> 타지 마세요.
(don’t ride)
